Since opening its doors in 2018, Taylor’s Café has become a much-loved part of the historic market town of Fakenham. Our home on Oak Street is a Grade II listed building with a character all of its own, full of charm and history. Long before Taylor’s Café, the property was home to Powell’s Saddlery, a trusted business that welcomed those arriving by horse and cart in the early decades of the last century. Powell’s was a familiar landmark for visitors and locals alike, a place where service and craftsmanship met the needs of the community. While horse-drawn transport has faded into memory, the tradition of welcome remains very much alive. Today, Taylor’s carries that history forward, blending the past with the present by offering a space that continues to greet people warmly—this time with coffee, meals, and conversation instead of leather and saddles. The building’s heritage, with its timeless features and connection to Fakenham’s story, gives our café a unique atmosphere that makes every visit just a little more special.
